Event Recap: Partnership for the People â Public Banks & CDFIs at the OFN Conference
At the recent Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) conference in Los Angeles, our panel on Partnership for the People: Public Banks and CDFIs drew a full house of bankers, CDFI practitioners, and community leaders! Moderated by Neha Shah (Director, Head of Community Development Lending, Charles Schwab), and featuring Dave Jette (Legislative Co-Director, California Public Banking Alliance), Steve Dusek (CEO, Dakota Business Lending), and Melissa Marquez (CEO, Genesee Co-op Federal Credit Union and leader in New Yorkâs public banking movement), this panel tackled the transformational impact of public banking on communities across the nation.

Our session highlights:

- A Model to Follow: the state-run Bank of North Dakota, in partnership with Dakota Business Lending, shows the power of public banks and CDFIs collaboration and how they can work together to support small businessesâparticularly those owned by historically underserved women and Indigenous entrepreneurs.
